that left for Vienna
THE STORY STARTS IN 2009 WHEN BELGIAN RAF TOTÉ FELL IN LOVE.
IN MANY WAYS. NOT ONLY WITH HIS FUTURE WIFE, BUT ALSO WITH THE CITY OF VIENNA, THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY OF AUSTRIA AND ITS LOVELY PEOPLE.
Once moved to Vienna, Raf started brewing beer out of nostalgia to his home country and to unwind from his marketing job at a large tech company. Shortly after, not only the kitchen, but also the guest bathroom and cellar were taken up by his new passion.
Many experiments, brewing books, a ‘beer sommelier’ course and numerous conversations with fellow brewers later, Raf decided in 2015 to quit his tech job and pursue a new adventure: Der Belgier Brewing was born.
BELGIAN BEERS ARE OFTEN PROCLAIMED AS THE MOST RICH AND EXCITING BREWS IN THE WORLD. OUR VISION IS TO STAY TRUE
TO THE BELGIAN BREWING TRADITIONS, THROUGH OUR BREWING TECHNIQUES, INGREDIENTS AND BEER STYLES.
First of all, we us only top quality, and 100% natural ingredients, whenever possible we use malts and hops grown and processed by top Austrian producers.
Even though we do not follow the German purity laws, we only use 100% natural ingredients, whenever possible grown and processed nearby in Austria.
The usage of fruits and spices ist very common in Belgium. We love to give our beers a special touch with a pinch of coriander, a dash of Paradise grains or a handful of orange peel.
Selected and grown in our own laboratory, our pure Belgian yeast forms the magical element giving our beers that typical Belgian soul.
We believe in slow brewing. Therefore our beer gets the time it needs to mature before we give it a second fermentation in the bottle. The yeast in the bottle safeguards the beer, making it even richer as time passes while it waits to be savoured by you.
DER BELGIER BREWING CO-HOSTS ITS BREWERY AT THE BIERMACHEREI BUGELMÜLLER ON THE HAUPTPLATZ IN KORNEUBURG.
In pursuit of the perfect spot to brew, one day, Raf met Bernhard Bugelmüller, renowned Biersommelier, educator and brewer. In December 2016, they decide to jointly rebuild the Biermacherei in Korneuburg, opening in May 2017.The 5 hectoliter system may not be large, it allows us to experiment and keep on refining our Belgian recipes to perfection. The brewery is open for visits by appointment only.
